Collins Aerospace is looking for a Machinist III to join our team in Fairfield, CA. You will transform a rough product into something complete within exacting tolerances. You will enable an organization to produce products on-time and to a customer’s requirement while working alongside many departments such as: Quality, Engineering, and Operations to produce high-quality products.
Compensation:
- 33.00 per hour starting rate*

Schedule:
- Onsite at Fairfield, CA
- Monday-Friday, 7 am-3:30 pm
- Overtime available and/or mandatory on a business need basis
Primary Responsibilities
- Set up and run conventional machines to produce parts with exacting requirements.
- Select and setup cutting tools, as needed gage tool lengths.
- Detect machining abnormalities and/or malfunctions based on tooling wear and damage.
- Review machining programs and data package for completeness as required.
- Perform quality inspection of parts using standard measuring instruments.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
- Support Continuous Improvement efforts and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Work autonomously and trouble shoot machining issues.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, job specifications, job orders, planning documents, and equipment manuals.

Basic Qualifications
- U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-22/chapter-I/subchapter-M/part-120/subpart-C/section-120.62
- HS Diploma with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a HS Diploma or GED, 4 years of relevant experience is required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-8 years of manual machine shop experience.
- Proficiency with manual machining best practices
- 5-Axis machining and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working in a low volume, high value part environment.
- Material handling experience- cranes, rigging, and lifts.
- Proficient with precision measuring instruments, i.e., micrometers, calipers, 6" scales, etc.
Working Environment
- Work assignments occasionally require moderate to strenuous effort.
- Workers may occasional must climb, bend, stoop, crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
- Will frequently lift parts and equipment that weigh up to 9 kilograms (20 pounds). with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers, if required
- Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh up to 23 kilograms (50 pounds) with mechanical lifting devices or assistance from other workers, if required.

The salary range for this role is $30.61 to $41.41; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
