Job Summary:

The Systems Engineering Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon, responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE).

The Radar Systems (RS) Department is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer (Associate Director, Systems Engineering) to join the LTAMDS program. The Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) is an integral part of the Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) and is the principal arbiter of Systems requirements and design. The LSE supports the OCE to ensure technical execution and system compliance to contractual requirements. This position can be located in either Tewksbury or Marlborough, MA and may require occasional travel.

Responsibilities include:

  • Matures concepts into an optimal solution balancing performance against objectives and constraints; is responsible for the final system verification (FCA/SVR) and supports the sell-off of the product

  • Coordinates across HW, SW, test capabilities to ensure interface integrity and design cohesion. They are a key participant in platform/SoS integration

  • Works with the Chief Engineer (CE) to support the capability thread leads for technical execution and integration of the program

  • Works with the CE and the various capability thread leads to provide, guide and mature the technical capabilities (EP, NCTR, ABT/TBM, 360 etc.) into optimal solutions

  • Shapes customer acquisition strategy through collaborative engagements intended to define future potential system capability in the pre-award phase of various contracts

  • Actively negotiate terms of entire proposals with the power to offer and accept compromise solutions on behalf of the organization

  • The LTAMDS LSE along with the CE of the program is in constant communication with the Program Office and the US Govt. in maturing solutions and getting it to the field quickly (to support customer needs)

  • Guide and direct other engineering team leads to achieve program and technical success

  • Coordinate, write, and deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 12 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of prior relevant experience. In absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in related Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering

  • Proven Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of systems engineering professionals

  • Experience leading teams and IPT’s, using tools and metrics in managing activities, and interfacing with senior program and functional management

  • An active and in-scope DoD Secret security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action

  • Experience as a Lead Systems Engineer or Chief Engineer on previous programs

  • Experience with MS Windows operating system and MS Office products

  • Experience in preparing customer and/or management level briefings

  • Excellent communication skills with prior experience presenting to customers and senior leadership

  • Experience in schedule development, action item management, requirement change management and overall development and progress metrics

  • Working knowledge of the Raytheon Technologies’ products and services

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience

  • Experience working with external customers; including USG, or FMS partners

  • EVMS Certified (or equivalent)

  • Proposal support experience including writing Basis of Estimates (BOEs)

  • Knowledge navigating the organization and working with stakeholders across the company to develop solutions to key program challenges

  • Familiarity with FMS and DCS Contracts

  • Manufacturing knowledge and/or experience

  • Import/ Export knowledge and/or experience

  • Technical leadership and guidance of multi-disciplined teams in the design and development of system requirements and design.
