Job Summary:

The System Design & Architecture (SD&A) Directorate is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within RMD.  SD&A is responsible for defining customer needs, functional and product architecture, requirements definition and decomposition, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), system performance, and System Security Engineering (SSE). 

The Land Warfare and Missile Defense (LWMD) Department supports RMD by providing world class technical expertise and engineering leadership to drive the design and development of world-class Air and Missile Defense Systems, Sensors, and Effectors.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Do you enjoy System Architecture and Requirements Development? 

The NT-E System Concepts & Requirements (SC&R) Product Team leads architecture and requirements development activities that define, characterize, and develop and document MDS capabilities in the form of architectural framework updates, system-of-system functional and performance requirements, change notices, interface control documents, technical papers and briefings, performance models, and complex requirements traceability efforts.
 

Do you have experience in Systems Modeling and Analysis? 

Engineers working on the SC&R Performance Requirements Team or the Integrated Discrimination Team will perform MDS performance analyses utilizing large-scale complex MDS Modeling and Simulation (M&S) tools. Support system engineering performance and discrimination products for MDA.

Engineers are also responsible for developing, updating, and benchmarking/anchoring MDS M&S tools to support system level analysis and discrimination tasks.  Engineers will coordinate analysis activities and products with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks.

An active and current DoD US Security clearance is required.  U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically Requires:  Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant experience OR an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience OR in absence of a degree,9 years of relevant experience is required. 

Employment Experience:

  • Engineering experience in one or more MDS domains (i.e. C2 Battle Management, sensor simulation development, directed sensor tasking, multi-phenomenology processing, Kill Vehicles)
  • An active and in-scope Secret US Security Clearance

Qualifications We Value:

  • Advanced degree in EE, CE, Physics, Math, ME, Aerospace
  • Systems Engineering experience in one or more elements of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
  • Experience in one or more of the following System Concepts & Requirements areas: system architecture, requirements development and traceability, MBSE development, performance requirements development through modeling and simulation, specialty engineering requirements development, DOORS, CAMEO.
  • Experience in one or more of the following analysis areas: model and simulation development and analysis, sensing phenomenology (Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical / Infra-Red (EO/IR)), signal processing (including sensor design, tracking, discrimination, estimation, applied mathematics), design of experiments, Python, MATLAB, C++.
