An exciting opportunity is now available for a Lead Systems Engineer specialising in Electronic Warfare (EW) to join Raytheon Australia’s Combat Systems Technical Support Services team, providing technical support to the Commonwealth’s Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Branch. The MIWS Branch is responsible for managing naval combat systems across the Royal Australian Navy’s surface fleet. As a subject matter expert (SME), the Electronic Warfare Systems Engineer will be a key person in ensuring a whole-of-fleet approach to the design and management of EW combat system elements for the surface fleet.

The EW Lead Systems Engineer will be expected to have a high degree of knowledge and experience with respect to EW sub-systems utilised within the RAN fleet.  The successful applicant will be required to lead distributed technical teams and liaise with a variety of stakeholders to solve and document complex engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as an EW SME to support development, maintenance, and alignment of combat system requirements documentation
  • Attend technical working groups within major naval acquisition programs, including management and provision of government furnished information pertaining to EW sub-systems
  • Review and provide feedback on EW engineering artefacts delivered to the MIWS Branch
  • Establish and maintain close relationships with internal and external stakeholders/customers and lead distributed technical teams in delivery of engineering outcomes

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Recognised tertiary qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Demonstrated experience within a Defence engineering environment with a minimum 6 years relevant experience, preferably within the domain of electronic warfare
  • At least 6 years experience in an engineering discipline including involvement in one or more of the following practices:
    • Requirements Definition
    • Requirements Management
    • Requirements Analysis
    • Design
    • Verification and Validation
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering Tools (e.g. DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler)
  • Applicants must be eligible to attain and maintain Australian Department of Defence security clearance of Negative Vetting 1 (NV1)
