Reporting to the engineering manager, the graduate electrical engineer will assist the senior electrical engineer to support and sustain one of the world’s most powerful radio transmitters. Other duties include supporting the sustainment of the wider facility, including power generation, power distribution, radar, plant equipment and control systems.

You will assist in complex fault rectification, electrical design, and sustainment activities to assure the NCS HEH electrical asset’s operational performance and governance is maintained in accordance with Australian electrical standards & WA state legislation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the senior electrical engineer with power generation, power transmission, plant equipment, radar and control system sustainment;
  • Develop solutions that meet customer requirements within cost, schedule and quality constraints;
  • Assist in maintenance-related investigations and special technical instructions;
  • Liaise with the engineering manager on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development in according to company and program procedures;
  • Aide in the planning, estimating and scheduling of electrical engineering tasks and technical reviews;
  • Notify the engineering manager of all defects and design deficiencies as they become apparent; and
  • Conduct risk assessments of electrical engineering hazards and proposed design solutions.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an electrical engineering with less than two years of professional experience;
  • Academic transcript required to support the application;
  • An interest in electrical system defect rectification and desire for ongoing development;
  • Willingness to work toward a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia;
  • Familiarity with Australian electrical standards;
  • Preferred familiarity with SCADA, Siemens and Allen-Bradley control systems;
