WHAT TO EXPECT

 

As an Electric Distribution System Lead Engineer, you will join an already very capable and dynamic team responsible for design maturation, development and delivery of the EDS commodity into a range of JLR. Interfacing with our Supply Base partners, In House Engineering, Programme, Purchasing, Quality and Production teams you will play a key part in bringing concepts, designs, complex circuits and geometry to life in our exciting range of new and refreshed vehicles. Being part of this team, you will coordinate and lead cross functional teams across the organisation to deliver the EDS commodity for your allocated vehicle programme

 

Your contribution will be key to success of the vehicle programme in meeting Cost, Weight, Timing and Quality targets and your coordination of Validation activities will ensure robust designs and products that meet our Quality targets. You shall specialise within wiring harness manufacturing.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads and coordinates delivery of the EDS commodity including geometry, cost, weight, quality and functional performance.  

  • Working level understanding of merging logical data with mechanical data in alignment with Bill of Design, Bill of Process and harness DFM requirements.

  • Identify key EDS standards and design requirements.

  • Lead DFMEA and Design Validation activities for EDS.

  • Knowledge of 2D / 3D wiring harnesses geometry, change control, product definition and change management processes are desirable in order to support the review of feasible product actions.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Sound understanding of High Voltage installations, specifications and standards

  • Ability to work within a team or alone with exceptional organisation skills and attention to detail.

  • Must have good presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate to all levels within the company (production line to director level).

  • Experience of project and/ or programme management.

  • Knowledge of failure mode avoidance and problem-solving tools such as Six Sigma, 8D and DMAIC.
