Job Summary:

We are looking for uniquely talented engineering leaders to champion our key transformation shifts, identify new ways to improve Structural engineering, and advance the design of the next generation military and commercial combustors, diffusers, turbines, exhausts, and nozzles.  Pratt & Whitney's Hot Section Engineering (HSE) team is seeking an experienced, creative, and highly motivated Structures engineer to lead design efforts on the next generation of “Dependable Engines.”

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Structures engineer will utilize state of the art analytical methods to validate the structural integrity of Hot Section static (cases and frames) and rotating hardware (disks and blades). 

  • Lead analytical stress & lifing analyses, as well as working across the team to coach and develop engineering talent.

  • The Structures engineer must have strong integration skills and the ability to understanding module functionality. 

  • Review and guide the analytical work of others; and communicating technical progress and status to program groups, senior management, and internal / external customers.

  • Support the discipline managers and contributing to CIPT resources and manpower plans. 

  • Support strategic development and Structures discipline health advancement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math)

  • 10+ years of engineering or aerospace experience, or 7+ years with an advance degree

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency with ANSYS APDL and / or Workbench.

  • Advanced knowledge of LCF, TMF, HCF & FM failure modes.

  • Familiarity with P&W Structures tools and procedures.

  • Demonstrated leadership in engineering continuous improvement.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills.

  • An active security clearance

  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.

  • Diverse Structures experience including analytical methods (FEA), hand calculations, and spreadsheet methods.

  • Experience analyzing strength, stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
