RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participates in Organizational and Direct Support repairs for vehicles in accordance with Preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) Maintenance Standards with additional guidance per established DM procedures. Performs other related duties as required or directed by the section officer that is covered under the currently approved TAA.

Typical duties involve the following:   

  • Acts as an advisor to the RSADF for all matters relating to vehicles maintenance. 
  • Makes recommendations on parts acquisitions. 
  • Inspects satellite maintenance points to ensure adherence to RSADF standard operating procedures for vehicle maintenance.
  • Maintenance services on various tactical vehicles including: replace damaged components, diagnose mechanical and electrical problems, and troubleshoot brakes, suspension, and fuel and engine problems in accordance with applicable technical manuals (TMs) using hardware and software tools currently available. 
  • Assists the section officer in enforcing safety policies, procedures, and standards. 
  • Electrical generator and diesel engine maintenance including repair/replacement of components and preventative maintenance.
  • Refurbishment, repairs and upgrades of heavy duty wheeled vehicles including HEMTT’s, trailers and single/dual axle generator trailers.
  • Coat/touch-up paint surface of parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective materials as required.
  • Performs DM on heavy/light military & commercial vehicles with Auto/Manual Transmission.
  • Ability to maintain, repair & overhaul double gear.
  • Ability to use transmission test devices & troubleshoot.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Requires basic job knowledge of transmission test devices, maintenance, repair & overhaul.
  • Ability to follow basic work routines and standards through on-the-job training (OJT).
  • High school, secondary school or equivalent as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:

  • Experience in the maintenance and repair of heavy duty vehicles.
  • General knowledge in maintenance workshop procedures.
  • Proficiency in the English language, spoken and written.
