Head of Integrated Training Design Services

Summary
This is a key role for a talented and innovative senior leader with the drive to transform three separate businesses into a single Integrated Training Design Service. Leading three streams of delivery this person will enable the business to deliver learning that is blended, active and provides customer delight. In this role there is great scope to make a significant and tangible impact to Royal Navy Training Design Services. Working in a dynamic business this role demands collaboration across a range of stakeholders, our ideal candidate will have led and operated in a commercially focused learning partnership; working at the strategic level this role will combine needs analysis and specialist knowledge to enable all teams to create relevant L&D interventions. Although this position will be working in a military environment, the right candidate does not need a military background.
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
The Head of ITDS should have experience and a good working knowledge of the following:
- Develop and implement a strategic learning and development plan tailored to the needs of our Integrated Training Design Service;
- Lead the training design and media development service teams and business partners to Design and Develop active learning solutions utilising blended learning approaches, including face-to-face training, virtual sessions, e-learning modules, and other innovative methods;
- Inspire all team members to collaborate and consult with a range of stakeholders and subject matter experts to create engaging and impactful learning content for the betterment of all customers and learners;
- Ensure training programs align with our customer strategic goals and objectives and best practices;
- Lead the project support team to track resource demand and optimise resources to maximise training effectiveness;
- Work with stakeholders to deliver continuous improvement - assess training feedback to measure the success of programs and identify areas for improvement;
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the teams and support the development of the TD champions;
- Build internal talent capability and identify gaps through talent mapping, developing career pathways for the team;
- Optimise knowledge and thought leadership in learning technology to drive creative and commercially focused learning solutions, working in collaboration with other partners;
- Proactively develop relationships with internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) and identify opportunities to launch new training products;
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify learning and development needs and tailor programs accordingly;
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in learning and development methodologies;
- Act as a consultant and advisor to senior leaders and managers on learning and development initiatives;
- Must have demonstrable experience of project management and multiple concurrent project deliveries;
- Managing the Training Design Service Team in producing compliant documentation for multiple MOD sites and the Future Training Unit (FTU) within a standardised design processes;
- The identification of new or changing training needs for the Naval Service arising from changes to relevant policies, legislation and regulations, doctrine and/or Authority organisational structures;
- Ability to work collaboratively across functional areas within the Learning Directorate as well as constructive engagement across Fisher Training;
- The individual will be able to travel to training locations / client offices / work away from home, within the UK, when required;
- The individual will need to understand the wider objectives of the Selborne programme and be able to align activity with strategic objectives of Team Fisher;
- Experienced and capable of building and maintaining effective teams;
- Excellent communication skills at all levels both internally and within the customer organization; and
- Established leadership experience analysing and designing learning programmes and supporting functions.
Desirable:
- Having a thorough understanding of DSAT and/or other learning processes such as ADDIE;
- Manage third party vendors to deliver relevant customer solutions to time, cost and quality;
- Have extensive experience and understanding of training analysis and design which would ideally be in a Royal Navy context or a further education setting;
- Ability to use data and information to create insight and to drive service/performance improvements;
- Evidence of understanding and analysing client requirements building curriculum and training to support those needs;
- Work flexibly to address client needs emerging over the contract life;
- Understand processes applied to training analysis and design and have experience in various development and delivery environments and have contributed to the analysis and design of significant training programmes;
- Experience in the use of technology to support learning delivery; and
- Identify training solution(s) to meet the Customer’s training requirements, balancing time, cost and quality, and define the training solution at the appropriate level of detail.
