What does the role look like?

Wolverhampton Actuation Systems is currently undertaking a major transformation activity whilst stepping up the level of facilities maintenance support on site. We need a hard services expert to join the team to support the implementation of various plant and infrastructure projects.

We are working towards a future building layout optimising our machines and process flow; helping us meet our increasing customer demands. Whilst this is being undertaken, we’re taking the opportunity to update our building services as required to ensure the long term health of the site.

We have numerous exciting projects in all areas of the business many demanding installation and overhaul of building services, civils works, and machine/ equipment moves to reach the end goal. During this period of transformation all site documentation will need to be kept up-to-date to ensure the sites continued compliance from an EH&S and regulatory standpoint.

The right person must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, interact with other teams, suppliers, and value streams. This person must have excellent technical, communication, organizational skills, project management and building services experience.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Facilities installation – you will take an active role in the implementation of various projects in support of the sites transformational goal. Key activities;
    • Installation of plant and equipment
    • Refurbishment of building services/ modernisation.
      • Electrical, wiring and switchgear.
      • Data connections
      • Comfort F-Gas
      • Plumbed services, potable water, compressed air, gas, sprinklers.
      • Access control
  • Produce drawings and designs of future layouts to scope and compliance.
  • Coordinate of factory installation projects, from design, feasibility, CAPEX, implementation, and final review/ sign off.  
  • Contractor coordination, supplier selection, oversight (EH&S, RAMS as well as reviewing progression) and final sign off works.

Essential skills:

  • Building services/ Hard FM background
  • Knowledge of Contractor management.
  • Awareness of building regulations
  • AutoCAD (2d/ AutoCAD LT)

Desirable skills:  

  • Lean/ Continuous improvement training.
  • O.N.C Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Understanding of current IEE Electrical Regulations.
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • IWFM membership
  • PASMA/ IPAF
  • CITB SMSTSS
  • Wiring Regulations 18th edition (preferably)
  • Health & Safety training (N.E.B.O.S.H Certificate in Health & Safety)
  • IOSH Working safely/ Managing safely.
