Government and Industry Relations Director (Field based role, US)

POSITION:  Government and Industry Relations Director - JLR Americas (North and South America)

Reporting to the President of JLR North America and Global Director Corporate Affairs, this role represents the interests of JLR to political, regulatory, diplomatic and key industry stakeholders in North America. The position will develop and manage strategies in relation to environmental, safety and compliance regulation and promote the company’s interests to key stakeholders at Federal, State and industry level. The person in the role will also act as the company’s main representative on JLR’s current U.S automotive industry lobbying organization, the Auto Alliance.  The role is key to translating, implementing and informing strategies to support the future growth of JLR North America.

 

What you will be doing:

  • Leading the implementation of Jaguar Land Rover’s strategy in Government and Industry relations within North America
  • Key contact for North America interface with British Consulates and British Embassies, with emphasis on embassies in Washington DC and Ottawa
  • Representing and promoting the company’s interest with the US and Canadian political, legislative and regulatory authorities at national and state level
  • Creating the strategy plans for key JLR issues at federal and state level; including taxation, trade, manufacturing, regulated emissions and safety, and present it to senior stakeholders ensuring correct alignment to future growth plans   
  • Key contact managing the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) relationship. Develop and implement any related activities connected with NADA
  • Representing JLR at company’s key lobbying agency, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and with other stakeholders as required
  • Monitoring federal government and state policy changes and report changes to senior executives, with recommendations as required
  • Managing corporate messaging and communications to groups at national, state and industry level
  • Working closely with the JLR North America executive board to represent government and industry relations during target setting discussions and strategy development
  • Coordinating efforts with the North America Fleet team to develop diplomatic sales in Washington DC and other offices in North America 
  • Coordinating and align JLR corporate efforts with Tata Sons, and be the key interface with Tata Sons in North America
  • Managing Government Affairs in Brazil, supporting the NSC and Plant requirements
  • Performing other duties as required

 

What you will need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience;
  • Thorough understanding of the global Jaguar Land Rover business with special emphasis on North America
  • Significant understanding of the US political landscape at both federal and state level
  • Understanding of the legislative bodies and officials relevant to the automotive industry
  • Extensive experience in the automotive industry at OEM level
  • Significant experience working within a major corporate environment
  • Previous experience in a similar strategy creation role gained  at senior management level 
  • Proven ability to analyze and create robust strategic reports
  • Proficient communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills 
  • Excellent networking skills
  • Strong knowledge of the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, products, competitors, and positioning

 

 

Recruitment Salary Range:  $156,500 - $204,000

 

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized components, including location, skills, experience, and market factors. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus in addition to a full range of medical/health, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick/personal, and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position”.
