The General Inspector position is responsible for testing products to ensure they meet specifications using hand tools and electronic test equipment. This position will ensure the products meet standards such as dimensions and electrical resistance set in manufacturing drawings and specifications. Then identify if these products have passed or not passed inspection through documenting on that parts documentation sheet. This position also will look to anticipate and prevent these problems from occurring in the products. The general inspector staff is responsible for the inspection of quality parts promptly. A candidate for this position should be a people person who works well with a team and collaborate with people from other departments as well as working independently.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Measure products to verify dimensional conformance to drawings and specifications, using rulers, calipers, gauges, or micrometers
- Test products to verify electrical conformance to drawings and specifications, using ohmmeters, multimeters, or dielectric/insulation resistance test equipment
- Visually inspect products to verify conformance to drawings and specifications
- Record inspection or test data, such as weights, dimensions, resistance, and quantities inspected, accepted, and rejected
- Disposition products as accept/reject based on their conformance to drawings and specifications
- Notify supervisors and other personnel of production problems, and assist in identifying and correcting these problems
- Inspect carcasses
- Complete all documents completely and accurately in the computerized tracking system
- Drive plant performance through safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
- Keep the work area clean and organized to facilitate process flow improvements
- Participates in continuous improvement initiatives
- Complete other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- A minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma or GED is required
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. Collins Aerospace will not offer sponsorship for this position
- Have experience reading blueprints and specification sheets
- Safely perform work and completes all required safety training
- Must have the ability to work any shifts and overtime including weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous manufacturing experience
