Job Summary:

Hot Section Engineering is seeking a dynamic individual to bring Project Engineering leadership to our world-class Durability Engineering team! This candidate will drive the development and execution of comprehensive field hardware evaluation strategies on products ranging from the latest commercial engines to advanced military applications. The candidate will lead and coordinate execution of OEM, in situ, MRO, non-destructive and destructive hardware inspection/evaluation, all with the objective of building knowledge and actively informing improved engineering processes. The successful candidate will possess impeccable communication skills and the ability to formulate solutions and plans aimed to overcome challenging problems. The candidate will interface to program leadership, working directly with multiple CIPTs. Travel up to 10%.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist strategic development of comprehensive field hardware evaluation strategies to build knowledge and actively inform IPD process and durability lifing system, across a range of gaspath part families. Responsibility for implementation & execution of OEM, in situ, MRO, non-destructive and destructive hardware inspection/evaluation across a range of programs.

  • Drive creation & maintenance of hardware condition database; enable trend analyses of hardware condition.

  • Drive expansion & industrialization of hardware evaluation capacity.

  • Enable proactive communication of opportunities, priority, and impacts to CIPTs for design changes, manufacturing variation control, limits expansions, repairs, etc.

  • Enable proactive communication of gaps/opportunities, priority, and impacts to durability lifing system.

  • Drive knowledge sharing & process alignment across engine programs and IPTs.

  • Lead and mentor younger engineers in executing engineering tasks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering.

  • 8+ years of engineering experience or 5+ years of engineering experience with an advanced degree.

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of gaspath hardware failure modes such as oxidation, creep, corrosion and TMF.

  • Experience with hardware evaluation and validation.

  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, such as, investment casting, laser and EDM hole drilling, airflow, metallic and ceramic coatings.

  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Superb technical communication skills.

  • Demonstrated technical leadership with focus on continuous improvement.

  • Ability to work in cross-disciplinary teams.
