Job Summary:

The Powerplant Engineer (PPE) position conducts technical maintenance planning on depot maintenance events occurring within the F135 propulsion system depot repair network.  This position is on a high-visibility F135 Sustainment team that enables reliability-centered maintenance execution and ensures cost-effective maintenance planning for the F135 program.

The successful PPE goes where there is no path and forges a path for others to follow, in the form of program maintenance management. A systems and processes mindset will be decisive in the proper execution of this role. Communication and collaboration across the F135 enterprise will be essential to this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and effectively communicate engine shop visit requirements. Coordinate with the global depot network to ensure effective implementation of workscope specifications, configuration requirements and specific engine shop maintenance instructions, and provide shop visit technical support in order to limit workscope expansion.
  • Work with Fleet Technical & Configuration Management to identify and manage emerging issues, as well as the assessment and mitigation of technical risks to minimize interval and cost impacts through maintenance planning including shop visit workscopes and evaluation of hardware teardown conditions for potential, limit increases, part repair development or part redesign
  • Invoice Deconstruction/Trending/findings assessment – Identification of cost driver
  • Business case development – Impact to financials
  • Provide timely resolution of technical or business questions/issues the shop may have on specific engine or program requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • A minimum of 5+ years of Engineering experience or Field Service/Maintenance experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with engine overhaul & repair processes, engine hardware, assembly, operation, and testing
  • Familiar with engine maintenance manuals, joint technical data
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
