WHAT TO EXPECT

 

The Global External Test function is responsible for managing the outsource of test activity within Engineering Operations. This role will manage test sourcing and delivery across a broad portfolio of external suppliers to fulfil the requirements of internal stakeholders. The aim is to identify and ensure provision of capable and compliant testing across a wide supply base, from components through to whole vehicles. 



Key objectives for the team are to seek to ensure external test market capabilities are understood and provisioned in time to meet Engineering test requirements. This includes reviewing relevant test trip requirements for associated in-territory test activity. This will need to be achieved while demonstrating that efficiencies can be realised, both from a commercial and timing perspective without compromising on the engineering quality. 



The department is empowered to challenge and offer alternative solutions where value improvements can be realised, along with the responsibility to highlight any test requirements or test trips that do not align with the criteria and work with suppliers and JLR teams to offer viable solutions. 

 

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

 

•    Develop and maintain the worldwide test facility plan to support the control and delivery of external test delivery

•    Support with trend analysis and forecasting requirements into operational and strategic planning

•    Create, manage and deliver external supplier facility plans and produce detailed matrix

•    Guiding and supporting key stakeholders across Engineering to ensure delivery of best practice solutions

•    Assess and present opportunities for external and internal investment for future test needs

•    Responsibility for the external test activity sourcing from definition of request through to delivery

•    Vendor contract operational management including:

o    Analysis and reporting (commercial along with associated KPIs/SLAs)

o    Technical and commercial negotiation

o    Process review and adherence

o    Compliance with standards and accreditation

o    Identification of new test facilities to meet cost/capability requirements.

o    Test facility sourcing discussions

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED



•    Able to plan, manage and execute complex projects on time and within budget.

•    Excellent communication skills with the ability to converse at all levels of the organisation and with external suppliers/customers.

•    Strong negotiation and analysis skills.

•    Strong communication and presentation skills, able to develop and deliver simple messages and conclusions

•    Ability to apply commercial/business requirements to technical challenges.
