Experimental Battery Materials Intern- Fall 2024

The Materials Informatics team brings together a team of computational material science experts with data scientists and experiment teams to accelerate materials development for niche applications. The focus of the team is towards fundamental research that can be used in improving the performance of key components using advances in Materials. We have an open position for an Experimental Battery Materials intern join our team in Silicon Valley, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in synthesis of material for all-solid-state battery
  • Battery performance characterization such as cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical performance, cycling
  • Analysis of materials properties such as ionic and electronic conductivity measurement, structure analysis, impedance measurement, temperature sensitivity etc.
  • Conduct extensive descriptive analytics on collected data
  • Analyze, summarize and present research findings and results through presentations, reports/documents and publications

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Pursuing Bachelor, Master or Ph.D in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field.
  • Advanced Research achievements in scientific papers and patents on related topics
  • Advanced understanding of fundamentals in inorganic/organic chemistry, reaction kinetics
  • Experience in designing and synthesizing new compounds for application in electrochemical systems
  • Experience with a wide range of material property characterization techniques
  • Expertise with testing the performance of electrochemical systems
  • Attention to detail, flexibility, creativity, and excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skill
  • Must be able to work full-time during the internship
  • Must be currently enrolled in a 4 year College or University
  • GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Available to work onsite for 6 months - 1 year.

Preferred Skills

  • Solid foundations in electrochemistry, inorganic/organic chemistry
