Position Overview:

The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Commodity Engineer, for Electronics Product team located at Bangalore, India. Boeing India Engineering to bring to engineering information, systems, facilities, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing with speed and efficiency by resiliently supporting the Product Support Engineering team.

Position Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

You will be responsible for strategic commodity vision, evaluating/sourcing suppliers & managing supplier relationships through Boeing Supply Management organization using principles of Manufacturing Readiness Level and Factory Readiness Levels.

  • Facilitate engineering team against Build to Print artifacts to transition to new suppliers as required and build statement of work for transitions
  • Representation on a cross functional Product Support team across multiple product lines, to help engineering, by focusing on supply chain challenges and ensures internal/external customer needs are satisfied. Works cross-functionally with product, manufacturing and quality engineers as well as procurement, finance and product support teams.
  • Defines and monitors sub-tier supplier metrics and performance in line with manufacturing readiness levels, factory readiness levels and other objectives linking supplier performance to Build to Print artifacts adherence. Ensure continuous improvement.
  • Maintain Record for Conformity, quality and other engineering artifact track records and support quality FAI audits with supplier on technical perspectives.
  • Conduct research and develop trend analysis for part material availability and escalations.  Coordinate with supply management to ensure no part pedigree/availability gaps
  • Supporting quality escalations to ensure standards/processes to ensure part/supplier performance – track and resolve supplier quality issues. Work with supply chain and parts management teams to manage supplier change notifications and part interchangeability notices for any product build to spec or build to print adherence
  • Develop Supplier statement of work and its modifications along with new business with supply management on behalf of engineering designers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher is required.
  • 9+ years of direct project management experience in Electronics Contract Manufacturing industry
  • Proven experience with electronics, printed wiring board, mechanical components, coating and finishing processes
  • Experience with FAA (commercial) or defense airworthiness certification requirements and good understanding of CAR Requirements
  • Experience in doing product changes through documentations with certification authorities
  • Experience in run rate-based product change determination
  • Experience in industrial standards like ASME, IPC and so on to validate the completeness of a manufacturing document.

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.)
