The Engineer II, Systems Engineering will be part of our System Integration organization, Systems Controls group in Windsor Locks, CT. The Engineer will focus on Control Systems engineering analysis.

The Engineer II will focus on systems engineering evaluation and studies including control systems modeling, dynamic analysis, developing advanced models, requirements definition and decomposition, and defining system test plans.

The Engineer II will be required to collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups, customers, and management to define, review, and refine control system requirements that are critical to the design and development of complex integrated air management systems.  This includes the decomposition and negotiation of requirements to system components including the system controller software to ensure seamless control system performance that integrates with sensors and effectors in accordance with their design limits for robust system operation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • With some direction, design control systems for heating, cooling, and ventilation of aircrafts.

  • Formulates conceptual design of continuous and discrete control system design requirements developing lower-level requirements to meet customer requirements and business goals, with emphasis on precise thermal management control and reliability.

  • Develops advanced mathematical models or other methods of computer analysis to develop, evaluate, or modify design, according to customer engineering requirements.

  • Performs system level analyses of thermal fluid systems and prepare technical reports of findings and recommendations.

  • With some direction, creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization.

  • Collaborate with customers to establish specifications, performs evaluation, and plan performance testing.

  • Investigate test results for consistency with performance predictions and compliance to system requirements. 

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, or Mechanical preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in Aerospace, Automotive, or Oil/Gas industry preferred.

  • Experience with Model Based Design engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in Systems Engineering.

  • Experience with MATLAB, Simulink and SysML modeling (strongly desired)

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to management and engineers.

  • Experience with task detail planning and project execution.
