Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Engineer II to become a subject matter expert for the new Model Based Definition (MBD)standards and capabilities in NX. In this role, the selected candidate will provide support to Design and Product Definition practitioners in the application of MBD tools and standard practices, and learn about and support MBD derivative creation which will include 3D PDF, QIF, and STEP files. The Engineer will be responsible for recording and prioritization of issues and enhancements based on practitioner feedback, and will also work across functions that include DT, MBD Tools, and software vendors to improve product and process maturity.
The MB-DMI initiative will transition Pratt & Whitney from a 2D PDF drawing as the design authority to a 3D Solid Model containing digitally annotated product information for consumption by manufacturing and inspection. It is part of the Model Based Enterprise aimed at changing product related processes, tools, and methods to accelerate product development and to improve product quality. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Key Responsibilities:
- Document and troubleshoot issues, determine root cause, corrective action, and workaround for issues reported with derivative files (QIF, 3D PDF, JT, STEP).
- Work collectively on issues with DT, MBD Tools Team, and Software OEM (Capvidia, Siemens, Elysium).
- Understand impact to the business for each issue and use that to help prioritize the issue, communicating impact and priority to DT and Software OEM.
- Create training material and helpful hints quick reference material.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in STEM and 2+ years of prior experience in NX modeling and GD&T per ASME 2018 (or later); or An Advance Degree in STEM; or an Associate degree in STEM and 4+ years of prior experience in NX modeling and GD&T per ASME 2018 (or later).
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Active U.S. government issued security clearance.
- Teamcenter experience.
- Desire to work as a methods specialist to help mature the MB-DMI software.
- Participant on MBD Pilot.
