The Collins Aerospace Avionics Test Engineering organization is looking for a motivated individual to be an Electrical Engineer to assist in developing complex engineering solutions. The Avionics Test Engineering organization is a global engineering organization responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of the manufacturing test solutions in support of the $5B Avionics strategic business unit as well as external customers including armed services and airlines both domestic and international. 

The candidate should have a good background knowledge of circuit design, PCB development, and circuit analysis. The candidate should have experience developing custom components for testing, including test fixturing, PCBs, and cables. The candidate should have working knowledge and experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, optics, power supplies, etc. Basic understanding of fire protection and environmental stress screening is preferred. The candidate must be comfortable developing solutions for common test platforms as well as full custom test solutions where applicable.

This candidate will perform engineering duties including manufacturing planning and the installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical apparatus to ensure that projects are completed on-time and as per the defined goals.

This is a multi-faceted role requiring versatility across a variety of tasks in a highly collaborative environment. The role requires working closely with engineers and leaders, at various locations around the globe, to ensure project success.  Organizationally, the role reports to an Engineering Manager in the Avionics Test Engineering organization. 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determines material and equipment needs and orders supplies to ensure sufficient resources for project completion.
  • Develops or performs operational, maintenance, or testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment, or systems to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of engineering processes.
  • Manage activities for the manufacture, construction, installation, maintenance, operation, or modification of electronic equipment, products, or systems to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepares, reviews, or maintains maintenance schedules, design documentation, or operational reports and charts to ensure that progress and performance can be tracked.
  • Resolves day-to-day technical problems on the production lines to minimize disruption. Troubleshoots electrical device problems to ensure that issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Designs, fabricates, modifies, and evaluates electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in other equipment and devices.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. **Must reside within 60 miles of Wilson, NC. **
