Job Summary:

The Development Operations (DO) organization of Pratt & Whitney is looking for an Assembly Process Engineer responsible for creating and maintaining assembly work instructions, improving assembly processes per lessons learned, and troubleshooting engine assembly issues on the DO shop floor.

The candidate must demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and team skills as well as an ability to multi-task and adapt to changing business requirements. The candidate should also show an interest in developing and implementing new technologies and lean manufacturing techniques into the assembly processes.

The selected candidate will participate in the Engineering Development Program (EDP) for the Development Operations and Product Safety, Certification, & Validation (PSCV) organizations. This is a two-year rotation program in which participants move between three job functions across DO and PSCV, granting them a breadth of experience and insight to the multifaceted world of jet engine development, building and testing the next generation of aerospace propulsion technologies. At the conclusion of the EDP, the candidate will return to the Assembly Process Engineering team for permanent placement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and approve jet engine assembly procedures per engineering requirements and Engine Development Plans
  • Support the Assembly Floor through ownership of assembly instructions and troubleshooting of issues in coordination with Operations and Engineering disciplines
  • Develop, implement, and validate robust new processes to ensure production readiness
  • Grow technical proficiency in areas including engine hardware, assembly methods, and assembly equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to improve safety and efficiency in assembly activities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Fluent in English (verbal/written)
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior Co-op/internship experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing/assembly shop practices
  • Advanced degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Active DoD Security Clearance at Secret Level or Higher

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
