We’re currently looking for a Drivetrain Field Quality Investigations Engineer to join our team in Smyrna, TN.
This role will be responsible for identifying, investigating, analyzing, and reporting field issues related to drivetrain components. The Engineer’s core responsibilities will be to monitor field data sources, establish action plans for incident investigation, analyze the information collected, assign the issue to the appropriate group(s) for resolution, and track corrective action activities to drive quality improvement. The Engineer will also provide clear communications to the market.

Job functions Include but are not limited to:
Investigate engineering issues affecting warranty, durability, customer satisfaction, safety, or regulatory compliance by analyzing various data sources and monitoring trends from the field. This will include part collection, testing, and vehicle-level investigation (on-site or scramble to vehicle location).
Establish priority and action plans for incident investigation. Communicate product issues to management and responsible group(s) for countermeasure development.
Participate with cross-functional teams in problem solving methods to identify root cause and C/M of concerns.
Track countermeasure implementation and report progress for the affected systems or models.
Prepare information for dealers and provide technical assistance to other interfacing departments in the above areas of responsibility.
1. Job Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to analyze complex technical problems. Formal problem-solving training is preferred.
Strong project management skills, effective communication, and presentation ability with cross-functional stakeholders.
Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet data analysis (graphs, pivot tables, etc.), presentation, word processing, and other PC and mainframe applications.
Experience with Consult diagnostic tool and vehicle data acquisition is preferred.
2. Years of Experience:
3-5+ years related professional experience with a broad knowledge of automotive design, development, production processes, and vehicle system troubleshooting. Specific drivetrain experience preferred.
3. Education
A bachelor’s degree in in an engineering discipline is required. A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) is preferred.
