Job Summary:

Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems. CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support.

The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Senior Engineer to join the Engine System Software Engine and Flight Test Support organization.

As a member of a dynamic engineering organization, this position offers the candidate an excellent opportunity to apply multidisciplinary engineering and leadership skills in the development and support of complex engine control and diagnostic systems and software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support acceptance of FADEC and PHMU software for release to engine test
  • Develop and validate engine and flight test trim files and/or test scripts
  • Support and troubleshoot and establish requirements for control system integration with test stand / flight test vehicles
  • Provide test system workarounds for any impactful shortfalls in FADEC software implementations if practical
  • Provide test coverage during engine / flight testing, recording data as necessary, troubleshooting any engine/control system issues that arise
  • Analyze engine / flight test data in support of control system validation requirements
  • Represent program CIPTs for engine related activities such as engine test job requests, test readiness, flight clearance, and failure malfunction report reviews

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • 5+ years prior test support engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and 3+  years’ experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, high pressure engineering test environment
  • Prior engine and flight test coverage experience a plus
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B
  • Outstanding cross discipline communication skills
  • Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design
  • Must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary/multi-project team environment focused on developing and supporting mission critical embedded systems
