Job Description:

RTX Enterprise Services has an opening for an Energy Coordinator – Sr. Analyst, Facilities.  Selected candidate will oversee the organization’s efforts to promote responsible use of natural resources and protection of the natural environment, primarily by reducing the use of utilities (electricity, natural gas, water, hot water, chilled water, specialty gases) and operation of facilities, promoting sustainability.  Utilizes various tools and software to monitor building utility consumption to assist with determining energy reduction projects for the organization.

The Energy Coordinator collaborates with utility providers energy service and equipment providers to coordinate organizational energy and sustainability programs and provide analysis, information and recommendations to applicable leadership. Responsible for providing technical analysis, review, measurement, and verification projects. Provides technical analysis and review for performance monitoring or contracts.  Data Gathering and Analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes energy, water & sustainability data outputs for trends and/or deviations that need further investigating. 
  • Provides technical analysis/review for facilities projects and energy/water conservation specific projects; provide project requirements and feedback to support sustainability standards and goals.
  • Identify and establish working relationships with all necessary engineering, construction and procurement individuals (with focus on energy conservation and generation resources) required to execute energy recommendations.
  • Perform building “walk-through” and identify energy and water conservation measures (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.) in office, engineering and industrial facilities.
  • Partners with leadership on varying levels of project tasks as assigned by department leader. Works autonomously on assignments
  • Customizes software and spreadsheets to achieve desired technical results and presentations.
  • Evaluates and recommends best methods for measurement and verification of system performance.
  • Provide continuous improvement recommendations on a yearly basis for optimizing energy performance and savings opportunities.
  • Baseline knowledge in energy/utility management software.
  • Responsible for reviewing utility billing/contract documents and conducting periodic utility surveys.
  • Assists in the preparation of cost benefit analysis for projects producing utility related savings opportunities.

Required Skills:

  • Prior Knowledge and experience in the energy or sustainability field.
  • Strong computer skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word and Outlook, and ability to work with customized software.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, customers, and service personnel.  
  • Solid analytical skills to decipher the operational and project requirements and deliverables and enlist the necessary resources to achieve those goals.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret utility bills, plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings, service bulletins, technical procedure manuals, equipment specifications, and governmental regulations.
  • Effective and clear verbal communication skills to all levels of individuals within the organization with the
    Ability to professionally articulate to others - clear objectives, define issues, address goals, and speak to the system operations, and relationships of the utilities and sustainability programs. 
  • Possess a high level of communication and leadership skills that demonstrate support of a professional design team.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working with local, regional or state government and community agencies and organizations.
  • Knowledge of regional, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations related to energy.
  • Certified Energy Coordinator Accreditation, Business Energy Professional, building Performance Institute Certified, or equivalent.
  • Experience with energy audits, building sciences, deep energy retrofits, renewable energy technology applications, passive house design certifications, and other equivalent high performance building experience.
  • Knowledge of sustainability programs, HVAC systems and controls, electrical systems and proficiency with energy analysis tools.
  • Working knowledge of cost and savings studies and incorporating energy conservation measures

Education Requirements:

  • This role typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics , Sustainability or related discipline and 2 or more years relevant experience

US Citizenship:

  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance.  Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
