Job Summary:
We are seeking a Systems Engineering Section Leader (SL) in Goleta, California. The activities of the SL include: Engaging with Program Managers, Chief Engineers, and Lead Systems Engineers, to ensure systems engineering discipline, and promoting successful program execution; leading requirements development related to the operations concept, architecture, design, development, integration, validation, performance assessment, and flight test; frequent collaboration with multiple functions (software, hardware, systems) and the program office; monitoring engineering performance; and technical presentations with internal and external customers.
The SL is a key technical contributor to the program supported by the section and performs direct line management activities for approximately 10-20 engineers. These SL activities include career development, resource allocation, championing systems engineering best practices, and actively engaging with programs to facilitate proposals. The SL ensures two-way communications for section members; serves as a day-to-day liaison to the programs, and oversees member job assignments, performance, and recognition.
This is an onsite role.
Responsibilities to anticipate:

You will coordinate program and staffing needs to meet demand for multiple programs.

You will collaborate with the Department Manager in the execution of the Center and SAS Engineering goals, and department meetings.

You will have demonstrable expertise in electronic warfare system engineering as well as leadership experience.

You will engage regularly with program IPTLs in producing EACs and proposals.

You will facilitate the department level approvals.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the technical roadmaps for your section.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering development throughout multiple phases of the systems engineering lifecycle

Full-Lifecycle Systems engineering experience (or relatable) with Electronic Support and Electronic Warfare systems; Familiarity with the Systems Engineering "Vee" model and the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering, digital engineering, and digital thread concepts
-
Experience with waterfall and/or agile development methodologies

Experience in New Business Initiatives such as the generation of proposal Cost Volumes, Technical Volumes, or Management Volumes; Prior experience in the generation of BOEs and resource planning in anticipation of future contract awards.

Must be a U.S. Citizen with Active (or active within past 24 months) DoD Secret Clearance

Must have the ability to obtain and maintain SAP (Special Access Programs). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:

System level architecture, modeling, and design experience.

Experience with DOORS, DNG, and Cameo Enterprise Architecture (prior exposure or expertise in SysML and UPDM 2.0/UAF).

Demonstrated experience and diverse experience across systems engineering domains such as Concept Definition, Requirements definition, Functional Analysis, System Design, Parametric Analysis, Design Implementation, Integration & Test, Verification & Validation, and Product Lifecycle Support.

Prior experience as an LSE, CE, or IPTL.

Familiarity with EVMS.

The salary range for this role is 123,000 USD - 259,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
