Collins Aerospace’s Global Engineering & Technology Center in Puerto Rico (GETC-PR) is looking to hire an Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer. We are looking for a strong, passionate problem-solver with an action-oriented, collaborative mindset who strives to exceed expectations.
This position will sit at our Aguadilla, PR location. Candidate must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Resolution of mechanical engineering problems, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with minimal supervisor oversight
- Develop design definition from concept to final product for components (Digital Motor Controller Assemblies, Component layout on Printed Circuit Board, Signal and Power Harnesses) and subsystems of integrated Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) that conforms to Collins technical standards and customer specifications.
- Provide Model Based Definition using Creo 8 and Windchill 11 in the design of fabricated Motor Controller housings and electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Perform preliminary or sizing structural analysis in support of design definition generation.
- Perform Steinberg Vibration Analysis on Printed Circuit Board Assemblies.
- Generate CAD model inputs for the structural analysis discipline.
- Perform stress and load combinations to determine analytical verification of compliance to customer factor of safety requirements and document .
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and 2 years prior relevant experience or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated professional experience communicating in English (verbal and written).
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the design, development, and qualification of space qualified ECLSS, thermal management, or similarly complex electro-mechanical systems
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Product Line Management (PLM) solutions (e.g., Windchill) Creo 8 or greater.
