Collins Aerospace is looking for electrical engineering summer intern for 2024 to join our Avionics Communication and Satcom department in Melbourne, FL. Our teams consist of cross-functional engineers who work on the design, support, development, verification, and qualification of Satellite Communication and HF Radio Communications hardware. We have a collaborative and engaged team culture that values our customers, products, and people – including you! As part of the Collins Avionics Product Line, you will gain experience supporting our Iridium Next product, the next generation of our industry-leading Satellite Communication platform. The current generation is already in use on thousands of aircraft today, and these products are the future of aircraft communication. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June-August; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past August 2024.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Will assist in researching, developing, designing, and testing electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks as well as resolving day-to-day technical problems by troubleshooting electrical devices problems on the production line.

  • Gain knowledge about designing electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes. 

  • Gain knowledge in analyzing and evaluating new or improved electronic components. Includes power generation, transmission and distribution, rotating machinery, illumination, wire communication systems and servomechanisms. 

  • Completes drawing designs as required, operates engineering software and equipment, and confers with stakeholders regarding engineering projects. 

  • Performs engineering work and applied research, development, and design for new products to ensure quality standards and functional objectives are met. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
