The Electrical Engineer position is located in Sterling, VA, within the Collins Aerospace Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) business area. Collins STS-Sterling specializes in developing, building, and modifying aircraft simulators and training systems for military and commercial clients. These systems vary in complexity, from desktop trainers to high-fidelity weapon systems and full-flight training systems.
What you will do:
-
Apply knowledge of product domain, technology domain, processes, tools, methods, workflow and best practices for hardware development with primary emphasis on electrical designs.

Demonstrate skills for the design, test, and documentation of hardware based on established design requirements and design approach. May include electrical analysis (power, VSWR, impedance matching, digital timing, etc.).

Work closely with other engineering disciplines (i.e., mechanical, software and systems engineering) to ensure the electrical design is appropriate for the project/product design approach.

Participate in cross-functional team efforts in integration and qualification testing of training systems.

Generate Electrical Design Documentation to include Schematics, Cable Assemblies, Wiring Lists and Cable Lists

Contribute to hardware engineering requirements capture, analysis, and derivation.

Design and Document hardware systems of moderate to high complexity.

Contribute to the engineering estimates for moderate to large scope electrical design problems.
Skills you must have:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

Must be a U.S. Citizen

Must have an active U.S. DOD Security Clearance
-
Experience developing systems requirements or performing systems tests.

Experience managing budget and schedule for project tasks.

Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)

Familiarity with US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

Preferred applicants will currently hold a DoD Secret (or above) security clearance.
