Job Summary:
Our Secure Communications (SecComms) program team supports the E-4B program, which is a key component of the National Military Command System for the President, the Secretary of Defense, and Joint Chiefs of Staff. In this role you will provide Engineering and Technical Assistance Services (ETAS) on a routine or emergency basis.
This position is remote - on customer site.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Identify customers’ needs, clarify information, explain procedures, answer questions, research every issue and provide solutions and/or alternatives.
- Develop Customer Problem Reports (CPR) and provide on-site assistance in solving issues.
- Keep records of all conversations in our call center database in a comprehensible way.
- Work with other engineering disciplines and subject matter experienced professionals to resolve customer issues.
- Multi-task, set priorities, and guide time effectively.
- Accept ownership for effectively solving customer issues, complaints, and inquiries.
- Keep customer satisfaction at the core of every decision.
- Maintain a high energy level with the ability to fit adaptably into a diverse team.
- Develop sustainable relationships and engage customers.
- Maintain Customer focus and adaptability.
- May be required to provide 24-hour on-call technical support.
- Up to 20% travel to off-site locations for field support and upgrades as required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance.
- 5+ years professional development experience on E-4B airborne platform DSS-2A switching system specific characteristics and operational capabilities.
- 3+ years professional development experience reading, interpreting, and executing statements of work, drawing packages, wiring diagrams, floor plans, technical documentation, directives, and standards.
- 3+ years professional development experience with DSS-2A switch operation, programming, and system integration within the DRSN and E-4B airborne platform.
- 3+ years professional development experience in a customer support role.
- 3+ years professional development experience in performing Software and Firmware upgrades on Windows, Linux, and VxWorks.
- Current DoD 8570 IA Technical (IAT) Level II certification.
- Comprehension of installation and user instruction guide “scripts” when handling different topics.
- Comprehension of applications, circuit functionality and design in the DRSN and airborne platform.
- Comprehension with Wind River vxWorks embedded operating systems.
- Comprehension in philosophy of operations of communications systems and troubleshooting skills.
- Comprehension in Microsoft Office suite of software to include Visio and OneNote.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with AC No: 43.13-1B; Acceptable Methods and Practices Aircraft Inspection and Repair, specifically Chapter 11 Aircraft Electrical Systems.
- Experience with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) aircraft modification approval processes.
- Experience with aircraft avionics and general maintenance technology and practices (A&P).
- Experience with the operation and installation of Internet Protocol (IP) switches and routers.
- Experience with cable producing equipment and specialty resources (i.e., MILSpec, Stewart, Crimping).
- Experience with various digital multi-meters and fiber-optic detection and measuring equipment.
- Experience with electronics, low voltage, and common input power.
- Experience with Emissions Security (EMSEC) standards related to RED/Black installations.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
