We are looking for a Dummy Calibration Technician to join our team in Farmington Hills, MI.
The ideal candidate would have a flexible skillset in order to support a variety of testing duties within the Safety testing and calibration lab. The key role of the Dummy Calibration technician would be maintain, calibrate, and prepare dummies for crash testing. This job is very dynamic and will require seamless collaboration with other staff throughout the facility to ensure no delays to testing.
Every member of the Crash facility needs to have a flexible mindset, helpful pro-active attitude, and positive outlook in order to be a contributing member of the team. This is an exciting opportunity that will require hard work to enhance our world-class crash test facility and move it forward to achieve its future goals.
Dummy Calibration Technician responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Setup & Calibrate dummies according NHTSA, NCAP, IIHS, or Nissan test requirements
- Identify equipment issues and be able to repair/replace any component, cables, sensors, etc. as necessary.
- Maintain ATD logs and regulatory calibration paperwork for tracking purposes.
- Maintain dummies and lab test equipment to ensure functionality, performance, and consistency of output.
- Store and manage the complete inventory of dummies and other test equipment.
- Collaborate with a team to execute crash tests per parameters
- Maintain a clean professional work environment.
- Compete other tasks as requested by lab supervisor
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree in an automotive related discipline plus 4 years of test technician experience or equivalent required. Will consider 8 years test technician experience in lieu of an associate’s degree.
- Experience completing dummy qualifications and instrumentation calibration.
- Experience with DTS hardware and software, experience soldering and electrical repair/diagnosis is preferred
- Knowledge of all test modes required for safety testing.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills are required
- Positive attitude and demonstration of positive mindsets. Willingness to learn new tasks such as vehicle prep, static lab support, ATD seating, and others is a requirement.
- Prior experience in Dynamic Safety testing is desired.
- Internal candidates at the Technician 2, Technician 3 and Technician 4 level will be considered for lateral move.
