Job Summary:

Raytheon is looking for a candidate to join our world-class team as a Database Engineer. In this position you would be familiar with creating, updating, and managing databases and the code that interacts with them.

This position is located onsite in Richardson, Texas (Cityline)

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Identify and understand customer needs and apply sound, demonstrable understanding of database principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering to translate those needs to viable design solutions.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
  • Successfully integrate Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) products as part of customer-driven solutions
  • Use proven problem solving and analytical skills.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and two (2) years of experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) solutions, such as Oracle, Postgres, or related systems.
  • 1+ years of experience with SQL scripting.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a Linux environment.
  • 1+ years of experience with Linux scripting.
  • Experience troubleshooting database issues such as DR, replication & backups and other related issues.
  • Experience with database security controls and audit & compliance requirements
  • Security+ Certification
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI with Polygraph U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Highly preferred experience in Postgres Administration
  • Highly preferred experience providing database development/project support in compliance with database design standards
  • Highly preferred experience troubleshooting issues with database instances, DR, replication & backups and eliminating root causes thru systematic problem management practices.
  • Highly preferred years’ experience ensuring database security controls meet internal & external audit & compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of J2EE architecture and an understanding of object-oriented modeling languages.
  • Working with Java developers on database data access layers.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
