At our Kilkeel Facility, we manufacture aircraft interior seating for a number of worldwide customers. As a leader in the aerospace industry, we have a number of exciting positions available right now, including a Customs Co-ordinator in our Seating business located in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland.

The successful candidate can expect to:

The purpose of this role is to ensure site compliance with import and export customs legislation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To assist and support line manager by performing compliance activities within the function and other departments
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance across the business to meet requirements of our customs approvals and Collins Aerospace Global Trade policy.
  • Support the Trade Compliance Manager with the development of the processes and procedures required to standardise and streamline import and export procedures
  • Ensure compliance with UK Customs import and export regulations.
  • Support the process of importing parts to support Collins Aerospace manufacturing & production
  • To coordinate the return of any temporary imports, ensuring that the goods are returned in a timely manner to meet international customs and licensing requirements
  • Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of customs tariff information in internal systems.
  • Provide timely and accurate clearance instructions to freight forwarders to minimise transit delays.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods imported to Inward Processing and assist with submission of Bills of Discharge to HMRC to meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate accurate export documentation in accordance with international law and internal processes.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs and files containing import & export documents and information.
  • Prepare and support of internal and external audits of the Trade Compliance function as required
  • Manage security of information as defined in the Security manual.
  • Support creation and maintenance of site and ITC Corporate weekly/monthly KPI’s

The Person:

  • An understanding of the importance application of import/export process and compliance requirements would be desirable
  • Requires self-motivated / enthusiastic individual able to focus on achievement of goals with a proactive approach and the ability to prioritise workload
  • Proven track record of working under own initiative, as wells as to support members of the team
  • The ability to develop strong positive working relationships with other business units and other functional areas within the organisation
  • Ability to communicate confidently, clearly and persuasively at all levels across the organisation

What you need to succeed?

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a third level qualification in a relevant subject e.g. Business/Supply Chain/Logistics OR demonstrate minimum of  3 years working in a similar role
  • Proficient with a range of IT packages (e.g. Microsoft Office including Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word etc.)

Desirable Criteria

  • Minimum 1 year Previous experience working in manufacturing/logistics industry
  • Previous experience working in a compliance role
  • Demonstrate knowledge of import and export customs activities, including tariff classification & incoterms
  • Previous experience using ERP systems (Eg. SAP)
