Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Principal Project Engineer to support our Compression Systems Engineering team.  The selected candidate will provide leadership to the Fan Module team for Adaptive Military Engines and serve as the IPT Leader of a large and highly visible IPT for  Fan Hardware.   You will assist with day to day leadership of all aspects of engineering, task management, procurement, quality, and customer service of the product and be responsible to the Adaptive Fan Component Integrated Product Team.  Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of project plans, schedules and budgets; and coordinate with other functional organizations as well as identify and address project problems, analyze data gathered, develop solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance.
  • Track progress, identify and resolve obstacles to minimize disruption to project schedules to ensure smooth project operations as well as meet all technical and business requirements for the IPT
  • Support in the preparation of status and technical content to CIPT, upper Pratt & Whitney management, and external customers as well as analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency of work.
  •  Work closely with IPT members and authorities on part development and recommend product improvements and also collaborate with the Program Chief Engineers and the Program Management Offices to manage the budget and ensure milestones are met.
  • Perform Control Account Manager duties for Level 5/6 budget and work with part producers and suppliers, in collaboration with Module Center and Global Supply Chain, to address all producibility issues in a timely manner and ensure that hardware is delivered per schedule requirements.
  • Take a Lead role in Agile Management as either the Product Owner or Scrum Master for the IPT and mentor and help develop other Project Engineers on team. Also support in the execution of risks assessments and mitigation plans and actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using ACE tools and support AS9100 efforts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 8+ years of relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active US Government Secret clearance
  • Experience in an IPT Leader role or similar position
  • Aerospace/ jet engine industry experience
  • Working proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, SAP, MS Project, Dassian, Primavera, and Jira.
  • Technical engineering experience
  • Demonstrate strong team leadership and strategic leadership skills.
  • Highly motivated
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer focus.
  • Analytical skills
  • Ability to craft clear communication and develop meaningful relationships
