Job Summary:
Hot Section Engineering at Pratt & Whitney is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and curious individual to join Core Durability group as damage mechanism modeling lead. Major responsibility is to improve tools used for estimating the life of aero-engine hot section components (airfoil, BOAS, and combustor). The candidate is expected to have strong analytical skills and fundamental knowledge regarding the mechanisms that cause hot section part damage (i.e., creep, thermo-mechanical fatigue, oxidation, TBC spallation, etc.). The candidate will work closely with the durability CIPT, materials, and methods teams at P&W.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop reduced order models for creep, thermo-mechanical fatigue, CMAS infiltration, and thermal barrier coat spallation.

Lead implementation of the reduced order damage models into hot section lifing tools.

Coordinate material testing needs.

Advocate for university research and coordinate data collection.

Benchmark latest developments in the field of gas turbine relevant damage mechanism fundamentals and modeling.
Basic Qualifications:
-
BS in Engineering.
-
10+ years of engineering experience or 7+ years of engineering experience with an advanced degree.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Advance degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Understanding of damage mechanisms for turbine hardware.

The salary range for this role is 112,000 USD - 236,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
