What does the role look like?
Collins Aerospace Systems ‘Wolverhampton’ is looking to recruit Sub Assembly Production Workers for the new ‘4th Generation Bevel Gear’ manufacturing team. This will be a brand-new ‘state of the art’ facility with significant investment in equipment and technologies.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the manufacture and verification of gear assemblies to achieve full production volumes. Development work will be passing through the cell and the sub-assembler will work closely with Lead Manufacturers and Manufacture Engineering, to develop new products. The role would be based in the new area, supporting both new and legacy gears ‘sub-assembly’ requirements and contributing to the overall needs of the team.
Shift working and some overtime will be required. Full training and support will be provided.
What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?
- Assembly of small sub-assemblies using mechanical and light benchwork techniques including (but not limited to):
- Assembly of sleeves and caps
- Helicoil assembly
- Heat (Oven) and Freeze (Freezer & Liquid nitrogen) assembly processes
- Pressure testing
- Adhesives and seals
- Basic Manual Machining
- Rust prevention
- Other work as required.
- Working to route cards, work instructions and drawings.
- Adhere to the relevant quality procedures and requirements.
- Performing product inspection using visual and basic measurement equipment.
- Declaring any non-conformance's and working with quality to disposition parts.
- Finalising paperwork and system transaction on completed work.
- General team working duties as required - supporting continuous improvement activities.
- Carrying out all activities in accordance with the EH&S procedures.
What will you bring to the role?
- Willing to work under own initiative in a medium volume production environment.
- Conscientious with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively within the working environment.
- PC literacy an advantage – with capability to perform basic transactional duties.
Essential skills:
- Level 3 NVQ or City and Guilds in a relevant discipline
Desirable skills:
- Previous Assembly and Inspection experience (Desirable).
- Apprentice served (Desirable)
