Job Summary:
Pratt & Whitney Controls & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a dynamic engineering organization focused on the development and certification of military and commercial gas turbine engine control and diagnostic systems.
CDS is responsible for all aspects of Pratt & Whitney engine control and diagnostic system development and support, including requirements analysis & definition, system & software architecture, algorithm design, product software design, verification & validation and engine and flight test support.
The CDS organization is seeking a highly motivated, team oriented, and results driven Principal Engineer to join the Control System Software organization.
The position is based at the P&W West Palm Beach facility and is an Hybrid role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Decompose system level and customer interface requirements into software requirements and designs within an Agile Framework
- Writing requirements, capturing software architectures, developing designs
- Conduct iterative prototype testing and reviews of requirements and designs
- Perform software verification including regression analysis, test case development, test script development and evaluation of results
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- 5+ years of engineering experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field with 3+ years’ experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid track record of achieving results in a technical role
- Ability to work in a dynamic, high-pressure engineering environment
- Prior experience developing software
- Prior safety critical software development experience
- Knowledge of regulatory standards such as DO178B
- Outstanding cross discipline communication skills
- Familiarity with jet engine control and diagnostic system architectures and control logic design
- Experience in the Aerospace industry is preferred
- Background in controls, real-time systems software and safety critical work is preferred.
