Job Responsibilities
Own and assist materials engineers with various aspects of CMC development, including characterization and testing. Technician will be responsible for executing experimental work on lab-scale CVI reactors; pre- and post-process experimental coupons; document process and key outcomes; and create reports showing key findings. Technician will also assist materials engineers manage specimen testing, which includes preparing and mounting samples for evaluation, machining test coupons, and coordinating schedule for key activities for timely completion of tasks. Technician will aide more senior technicians in execution of other lab activities such as maintenance, and other process development trials. Attention to experimental details and documentation is critical. Occasional overtime required.
Basic Qualifications:
- AA/AS degree from technical or business school
- 6+ years of combined experience as a technician in set-up and execution of experimental tests; microstructural sample preparation; and detailed documentation.
- US Citizenship due to program requirement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Composites processing experience in panel lay-up using fiber preforms, infiltration, coating, and evaluation is a plus.
- Experience with maintenance and operation of electromechanical systems is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Statistics and Lean Manufacturing is desirable.
- Software skills that include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required.
- Experience in use of image analysis tools is a plus.
