Job Summary:
The Integrated Area Protection Programs Office of the Chief Engineer is looking to hire a Chief Engineer to lead the David Sling’s Weapon System Production and Development Team in Tucson, Arizona. The Chief Engineer will lead in the ownership of the technical performance, and risk of the production programs while partnering with the program management for ensuring the cost and schedule are balanced. The Chief engineer is the technical voice of the program. This role requires the ability to address multiple stakeholder views domestic and foreign while leading a globally dispersed and diverse team through technical challenges for both development and production. The Chief Engineer will help deliver on financial commitments to the business and grow the program to increase long range plan value for the mission area

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Establish and manage a product vision, strategy, and goals to align with multiple Programs/Customers and facilitate conflict resolution.

Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPT and other functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements.

Interact with senior customer counterparts, internal senior program management and engineering leadership as the primary technical point of contact.

Support the capture of new business and influence technical and product line roadmaps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and execution.

Plan out and lead the incremental development of upgrades and system improvements.
-
Facilitate positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement efforts.

Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables.

Provide urgent response international travel to guide technical teams from low-level troubleshoot in engineering and factory environments to strategic resolutions.

Direct a team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of weapon system development.

Provide technical advisory disposition for Export / Import (EXIM) compliance.
Qualifications You Must Have:
-
12 or more years of relevant work experience including prior experience in a technical leadership role and including experience across the development lifecycle

Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline
-
Experience leading engineering teams, developing work plans, facilitating implementation, and managing resources with multi-million dollar annual budgets
Qualifications We Value:

Experience managing a complex, technically varied array of products including launchers, canisters, energetics, or circuit card assemblies (CCA) that are in both development and production

Experience in strategic development, customer interface, or contract capture

Experience with interfacing with domestic and foreign companies and their governments to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business

Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
-
Experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, production, and sustainment

Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management
-
Experience with globally distributed engineering execution organizations (CONUS and OCONUS)

Experience mentoring and managing the technical and leadership development and growth of engineers and subordinate leaders
-
Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline
