This position is for a Strategic Systems Chief Engineer under the Advanced RF product line within our Advanced Concepts & Technologies strategic business unit.  The Chief Engineer will provide engineering leadership over a growing set of Strategic Systems classified programs in El Segundo, CA.

The Chief Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Providing engineering leadership for advanced multi-function RF systems programs from product concept, proposal development, and program execution
  • Facilitating communications between the external customers, internal RI&S leadership, and the program’s engineering team
  • Providing engineering leadership through creation, analysis, and forecasting of program staffing, risk/opportunity management, EVMS, Integrated Product Team coordination, technical subcontracts management, and issue management
  • Technical expertise developing and maintaining the analysis to predict overall system performance, error margins and performance budgets, development and flow down of systems requirements, error budget trees, and performance modeling, simulation and analysis.
  • Support alignment of business technical roadmaps with customer’s requirements
  • Technical support of program with novel and complex architectures leveraging core capabilities and identify opportunities for innovation.
  • Support the continuous process improvement efforts of Engineering.
  • Communicating and presenting complex topics across all organizational levels and customers

Required Skills:  

  • Minimum 12 years of experience within RF systems engineering.  For example: RF and digital HW design, signal processing, surveillance, reconnaissance, synthetic aperture radar imaging, communication systems, electronic protection, ID, or adaptive techniques
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of team leadership, program staffing, EVMS, risk management, subcontract management, and quality controls (process tailoring, audit, etc.)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles of operation of multiple sensors, key performance parameters and design degrees of freedom for various sensors
  • Proposal development leadership and ability to author technical volumes
  • Active Secret Clearance

Desired Skills: 

  • Advanced understanding of RF systems, hardware, and software development
  • Ability to understand radar modes and how they fit together with operational tactics.
  • Original development of novel architectures and/or signal processing solutions for radar and communication system applications, as evidenced by patents and/or publications
  • Demonstrated involvement in continuous process improvement efforts

Required Education:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years relevant experience
