Job Title: Chemistry Technician

Job Responsibilities

RTX Technology Research Center has an exciting opportunity for a chemistry technician, for the Chemistry Team under the Chemical Sciences Discipline. This team is currently conducting research on fuel cells, electrolyzers, redox flow batteries, corrosion, and functional coatings. The team also works with various business units of RTX to solve challenging technical problems.

The position will entail working with a dynamic interdisciplinary team and assist research engineers in project execution in a laboratory environment. The primary responsibilities include establishing and conducting laboratory (bench-scale) tests; collecting experimental data, and  maintaining  laboratory equipment. This position is performed with some supervision and requires a candidate with highly effective communication skills, a strong willingness for action, and the ability to prioritize and advance multiple objectives. Basic Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a combination of the following experiences:

  • Demonstrated chemistry laboratory experience; familiar with typical chemistry laboratory equipment (e.g., pH meters, balances, ovens, pipettes, and filters) and laboratory techniques (e.g., mixing, filtration, extraction, & titration).

  • Experience with handling of hazardous chemicals (including strong acids and bases) as well as  flammable and toxic gases.

  • Experience with instrumentation especially related to flow, pressure, and temperature measurements and sensing of gases.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills are required.

  • US Citizenship or Green Card holder is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chemical synthesis experience and familiarity with electrochemical measurements is highly desirable.

  • Basic mechanical fixtures or plumbing familiarity.

  • Basic wiring and low voltage experience.

  • Experience in working with fully automated test stands, LabView or other programing for automated testing is a plus.

A U.S. citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) is required.

Education:

AA/AS, Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with a minimum of 8 years’ experience required, preferably in an industrial environment. Or BA/BS degree with internship experience or up to 2 years of working experience.
