Collins Aerospace Materials & Process Engineering Department has an opening for a materials engineering & science co-op to support legacy and development aerospace programs. The role requires working with internal engineering customers and suppliers to assist with materials and process (M&P) evaluations. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing materials characterization, providing analytical services, conducting root cause and failure investigations, and working with external suppliers to ensure part quality. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, and will run May/June- December; it is only eligible for current students with a graduation date past December 2024.
This is based out of our Windsor Locks, CT site; may be eligible for relocation.
Primary Responsibilities

Gains knowledge of analyzes, research, designs, and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems

Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications

Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
Basic Qualifications

Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.

Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
