Reporting to the Certification Manager of Seating Modification and Upgrade programs, the Certification Manager - Seating MAU Projects will be responsible for the managing a team of certification engineers responsible for on-time execution of the certification efforts for delivery of MAU programs on commercial seating products.

This position is eligible for relocation.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Establish training and development plans for team members to enhance technical knowledge through formal trainings, reading technical publications, and through hands-on experience.
  • Monitor and plan the workload of certification engineers to develop capacity plans to support on-time delivery of MAU programs.
  • Establish and monitor metrics, such as on-time delivery, first pass yield, and turn-around time for deliverables in support of modification and upgrade programs.
  • Communicate with customers and stakeholders to establish understanding of customer's technical requirements and convey certification capabilities, requirements, and organizational expertise.
  • Coordinate and lead continuous improvement initiatives that involve cross-functional team settings and responsibilities to improve certification efficiency, reduce cost and demonstrate airworthiness with regulatory agencies.
  • Represent the certification team and participate as a team player across the organization and keep the values and vision of the organization.
  • Facilitate and participate in the responsibilities of the MAU certification team, including:
  • Prepare documentation including Cert plans, Compliance Reports, Qualification plans/reports, defining test pass/fail criteria. Checks documents produced by other engineers.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure that all agreed upon product specific certification requirements are met. This may include working closely with the DERs, ODAs, DOAs, OEMs, or FAA/CAAs.
  • Conduct reviews of complex analyses and tests pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials and reports to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.  Provides constructive feedback to internal and external customers.
  • Review and approve drawings and reports to ensure conformity to regulatory requirements.
  • Research regulations, develops critical data, and generates documentation in response to customer/integrator requirements and/or FAA or foreign regulatory agency requests. Effectively communicates with necessary parties.
  • Mentor and train other engineers.
  • Up to 15% travel, based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with various tasks involved in certification and testing of airplane interior components.
  • 3-5 years of Certification/Test experience, including prior experience in certification by test and certification by analysis
  • Knowledge of product certification including knowledge of PMA/TSO/STC/OEM qualification and certification.
  • Experience leading engineering teams, planning work, and monitoring metrics
  • Prior experience reviewing engineering drawings or reports.
