What does the role look like?

Working as a Subject Matter Expert, influencer and driving improvement and projects that must ensure Central Materials strategic approach is achieved and aligned with the Value Streams. The aim of the team is to drive best practice for all materials activities that occur within our value streams at Wolverhampton. You will be joining a team that focuses on many arears of material management including inventory accuracy and logistics, materials planning for finished goods, make and buy parts and production control. This role involves driving for excellence in the production control function and will focus on areas such as scheduling, maintenance of order dates, shortage, and capacity management, internal value stream mapping and ensuring the right flow of materials through the factory. You will be responsible for driving the correct process, KPIs and use of tools in the value streams in these areas whilst supporting the whole team with projects that drive towards our strategic aims.

What will your day-to-day responsibilities look like?

  • Lead/support key activities and projects that drive Central Materials strategy implementation plan,
  • Identify and close gaps and opportunities on the VS’s Materials strategic approach against the overarching Central Materials strategy,
  • Responsible for the digital solution that updates PFEP tool,
  • Responsible for creating, managing, controlling, updating, and reporting on Central Materials KPIs dashboard (control tower).
  • Lead, manage, action, document, control, and report Aged Elements process and status progress for Wolverhampton,
  • Work with the VSs to assess all aged elements for Wolverhampton and be an influencer and provide data that supports and guide decision making process towards aged elements,
  • Lead, manage, action, document, control and report all potential Drop ship parts that possible to be implemented, their status, progress, and work alongside the VSs for identifying opportunities, collect data, influence, and provide recommendation and action plan to improve the quantity of parts implemented (drop ship),
  • Responsible for updating and controlling the MAMs workflow including aligning the approvers in Value Streams (VS’s) and ensure correct approvers have been assigned,
  • Support the cycle counting posting activities derived from cycle counts carried out in the plant and at the 3PL, as well as supporting investigations and root cause analysis on inventory adjustment requests to ensure there are no quality breaches,
  • Be a vocal from the Central Materials team in Value Stream SIOP meetings and other key meetings to support with ideas, data, calculation, and solutions implementation as well as monitoring progress through KPIs (central materials control tower when applicable)
  • Be an influencer on SAP behaviour and reactions upon changes and approach to business.

  • Experience in Manufacturers business environment.
  • SAP knowledge with proven record mandatory

Desirable skills:  

  • Aerospace businesses experience
  • Project Management, Lean Manufacturing and/or 6Sigma experience
  • Degree on Engineering, Economy, Administration
  • Understanding of Inventory Policies
