WHAT TO EXPECT



The NVH (Noise and Vibration Harshness) Brake Dyno Facilities team are part of the well-established NVH Laboratory Operations group. The support of this group is critical to the advanced creation, delivery, launch, quality and value management of the JLR core refinement attribute. This group is revered on its rapid and high-quality data output and is recognised for its flexibility and agility.



As a NVH Brake Dyno Technician you will be Responsible for all aspects of Brake Dyno off-line test preparation, operation and de-preparation within the Brake Dyno test environment, to enable readiness for test data acquisition on the ProLink software. The Brake Dyno Operations have a broad scope for NVH & Emissions test activities at both component and system levels.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 



•    Review test plan with facility engineer to ascertain test methodology and fixturing requirement.

•    Install & record instrumentation positioning on test sheet.

•    Prepare fixturing and vehicle parts for upcoming test requests ensuring required fixtures/parts 

are available. (eg. Brakes, Suspension assemblies)

•    Install Wheel Load Systems into the Brake Dynos according to build sheet.

•    Install specialised test assemblies into the Brake Dyno’s (eg. Brakes Emissions Rig).

•    Install/Tune specialist equipment for measurements (eg. DTV sensors, Thermocouples).

•    Operate computer-controlled Brake Dynamometer for set up tasks (eg. Brake bleeding).

•    Weigh/Measure/Inspect Brake components pre, post and during inspections.

•    Liaise with facility/requesting engineer for non-standard measurements/instrumentation.



WHAT YOU’LL NEED 



•    You'll be NVQ 3 qualified or equivalent with the relevant certification documents.

•     Practical mechanical fitter/technician led skills.

•    A working knowledge of Health & Safety in the workplace.

•    A background in rig testing. 

•    Knowledge of whole vehicle and electrical/mechanical sub-systems. 

•    Computer literate.

•    Self-motivated and able to work to a high standard with minimum supervision.

•    Natural problem-solver with an awareness of structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
