Position Overview:
The Collins Aerospace Flight Display System Application (FDSA) organization is seeking a Software Engineer I candidate with a passion for problem solving and optimization to join our team. As an Eng I, Software Engineer, you will work with a team that develops state-of-the-art Flight Deck Avionics in the Commercial Avionics industry focusing on the Pro Line Fusion Product that is deployed on several different Business and Regional Aircraft.
As an engineer on our team, you will be involved in the design, development, integration and verification of FDSA. We perform Model Based software development with Simulink, verification using python and harness environments using C/C++, so proficiency in these areas will help the candidate come up to speed quickly. Familiarity with Agile would also be preferred.
Candidates are required to have excellent communication skills to communicate technical issues and status in both written and oral form to internal customers. The candidate must be adaptable to change, determined to accomplish tasks based on program schedule, collaborate with teammates to make the best decisions, enjoy learning new technologies, be self-motivated and contribute to a positive work environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Designing, developing, and testing embedded software in avionics products

Collaborating on software requirements and design

Implementing and testing software

Helping to solve complex software and systems problems
Basic Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships)

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience developing software for real-time operating systems

Demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions

Energetic and proactive self-starter that builds sound, collaborative relationships

C/C++ programming experience

Python scripting experience

Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools

Experience in developing software using Matlab (Simulink) modeling language (Model Based Development (MBD))
