The following position is to join our RTX Corporate team:
We are seeking an Associate Director, Public Affairs, to support our public policy communications objectives. This professional will be responsible for developing and executing integrated communications and advocacy strategies in support of enterprise and business-specific public policy and issues-shaping priorities globally. She/he/they will collaborate closely with the RTX Global Government Relations team, in particular, to support a wide range of public engagement activities.
In addition, this professional will have the executive presence to influence and drive action across a diverse set of internal constituents and must be able to navigate complex competitive landscapes, mitigate challenges, and exploit opportunities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Across disciplines including media relations, executive thought leadership, public affairs, and corporate responsibility, among others, our diverse team delivers best-in-class communications strategies to drive key business outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and direct multi-year, annual and emerging issue campaigns to influence decision-making and outcomes among thought leaders, executive and legislative stakeholders in key markets everywhere RTX operates.
- Provide public affairs guidance and expertise to business unit and sub-business unit-dedicated campaigns and other functions.
- Advocate for global, federal/national, state/provincial, and local initiatives and corporate public policy priorities.
- Support business leader communications / channel strategy with public officials in pursuit of key business priorities.
- Engage and mobilize third-party stakeholders in support of key company public affairs objectives.
- Align and connect non-national (I.e., state/provincial, local municipality) business unit and sub business unit communications activities, including CSR with broader GGR initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically requires a Bachelors Degree and a minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience, or in lieu of a degree, 14 years of relevant work experience.
- Significant public affairs and issue management experience in the aerospace and defense industry.
- Advanced understanding of federal, state and local (including international) legislative and executive procedures and norms.
- Ability to keenly apply that understanding to ethically influence - via accepted and integrated engagement strategies and tactics - public policy and administrative outcomes in support of company objectives.
- Well-developed network of industry journalists, elected and/or appointed officials, third party influencers, peer communications professionals and outside counselors.
- Mature executive presence with demonstrated ability to exercise consistently reliable judgment in fast-moving, business-critical situations while maintaining confidentiality in all matters, as necessary.
- Strong writing skills and attention to detail.
- Motivated self-starter who meets deadlines, maintains steady performance under pressure and has the ability to multi-task.
- Must be willing to work onsite, with hybrid flexibility, in Arlington, VA
- Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident “Green Card” holder
