The Advanced Technology Team is responsible for two critical business functions, New Business Proposals and Technology Progression projects within the Environmental & Airframe Control Systems (EACS) division of Collins Aerospace Power & Controls . The Associate Director of Advanced Technology is responsible for being the primary engineering POC for these functions with strong collaboration from the Program office Value Stream Leaders and drawing on additional personnel from the Systems Integration, SIPT, CIPT and Design organizations to accomplish this work. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering and is directly responsible for the budget, schedule and manpower required to meet the business needs.
The Associate Director of Advanced Technology will be expected to interface directly with the VSL’s to develop strategies for each individual pursuit and a broader strategy for how the technology progressions will help improve future pursuits. This role provides key input for engineering to support the yearly Strategic Financial Plan. They also will work with service engineering and end users to understand where EACS capabilities could provide improved capability through PMA/STC products.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for external proposal efforts including engineering estimate, technical response, engineering approvals and collaborating on strategy with VSL.

Responsible for collaborating with the P&C Technology group to develop the annual technology plan, but ultimately responsible for the plan, funding allocation and manpower planning.

Responsible for meeting EACS TRL/MRL/MML commitments and IP metrics; participate in the EACS Patent Review Committee.

Manages budget and funding request cycle for IRAD and B&P, and responsible for meeting budget allocated and any changes throughout the year.

Work with internal and external stakeholders to assign resources to projects and ensure they are moving forward, managing the SIPT and/or CIPT teams.

Build and maintain customer relationships to gain insight on their key needs for future efforts.

This role will require travel that may be up to 15% of the time - including international travel.
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
-
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience

U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Technology background with a demonstrated ability to build and manage teams with diverse skillsets.

Prior experience with Long term strategy development and the ability to collaborate across multiple businesses to develop winning solutions.

Prior experience presenting in executive settings.

Previous experience developing FAR15/12 compliant proposals.

Experience developing and managing technology projects including the TRL/MRL/MML process.

Prior experience with customer development.

Active Security Clearance desirable but not required.
