Collins Aerospace is seeking an experienced Associate Director of Advanced Engineering Technologies. You will be responsible for overseeing the Structures, Thermal, Dynamics, CAD and Digital Engineering Technology Teams. You will be accountable for providing timely and effective structural, thermal and dynamics analysis support for NPI, PCE and aftermarket WB programs to meet program commitments as well as advancing analytical methods and technology development.  You will also be accountable for the Digital Engineering Technology strategy including Product Life Cycle Management and roadmaps to advance Digital Engineering Tools. In addition, you will also be responsible for overseeing the Technology Portfolio for Wheels and Brakes and driving innovation and technology that aligns with the Big 7 Collins Strategic Initiative.

The position will be working Onsite at our Troy, OH Wheel & Brake HQ.

Position is eligible for relocation assistance

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the structures, thermal and dynamics engineering departments for wheels and brakes and ensures analytical and testing capabilities are mature to support the business.
  • Responsible for providing timely and effective structural, thermal and dynamics analysis for NPI, PCE and aftermarket WB programs program support to meet program commitments.
  • Oversee the structures and thermal and dynamics labs including Capex plans.
  • Responsible for ensuring your teams develop standard work and automate analytical capabilities where possible.
  • Responsible for department and technology project budgets
  • Actively attracts key talent, develops employees, prepares leadership and fellows successors, creates a learning environment, and promotes diversity and inclusion.
  • Lead the Computer-Aided Design Team (CAD) and ensures drafting and dimensioning capabilities are mature to support the business.
  • Leads the Digital Engineering Technologies team and is responsible for the Digital Strategy for Wheels and Brakes and implementing various projects to enable Digital Engineering Transformation. 
  • Partner with Collins Global Engineering Centers and Best Cost Engineering organizations and leverage resources and knowledge to support all aspects of the business.
  • Manage the Wheel and Brake Technology Portfolio to deliver the technology progressions to plan and on budget.
  • Responsible for developing the long-term strategic technology plan and road map.
  • Lead the technology strategic plan development.
  • Responsible for fostering innovation within engineering (3P brainstorming, creates a culture of innovation, training, identification of new technologies, license agreements)
  • Communicate and make technical presentations to senior level leadership
  • Able to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
  • Perform other duties as required

Basic Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and typically a minimum of 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and typically a minimum of 10 years of engineering experience.
  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required

  • 5 or more years’ of management experience leading a team of engineers.
  • Experience in performing structural, thermal and/or dynamics analyses or driving structural, thermal and/or dynamics methods.

  • Experience in engineering digital product life cycle initiatives
  • Experience with Carbon technologies
  • Experience with systems engineering
  • Experience with the Aerospace Industry
  • Experience working with global teams
