The following position is to join our Corporate or Research Center Team:
The Aero-Thermal Testing Group at RTX Research Center is seeking a technician candidate with experience in mechanical assembly, experimental testing, and test facility operations. The position requires technical skills and hands-on experience in the assembly, instrumentation, installation, modification and troubleshooting of test apparatus and test facility support systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in aero compressor turbomachinery and aero component experimental test operations. Activities will include mechanical assembly and installation of test rigs and test facility services such as pneumatic and hydraulic systems, test support operations, and test facility system maintenance.
Due to the nature of the experimental testing, flexible scheduling and multi-shift test support will be required.
Basic Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a combination of the following experience:
Qualified candidates with a minimum of 4 years of work experience in test facility operations and maintenance, flight line maintenance or similar experience will be reviewed for this position.
Demonstrated understanding of experimental test facility operations and strong troubleshooting skills
Working expertise with high pressure pneumatic (air, nitrogen) and hydraulic (fuel, oil) systems and related components
Ability to follow and execute experimental test procedures
Mechanical assembly, fabrication and machining skills, and the ability to work from blueprints and schematics
Good technical judgement and strong teaming and communication skills
US Citizenship
U.S. Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
Strict adherence to Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations
Familiarity with ASME piping codes
Familiarity with data acquisition systems and test instrumentation such as pressure, flow and temperature measurement devices
Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC control systems and LabVIEW is a plus
Experience with electronics, low voltage wiring for instrumentation and controls is a plus
Hands-on experience in the setup and operation of laser-based measurement techniques is a plus
Education:
The candidate will have any or all of the following: Airframe and Powerplant License, Technical School Certificate or Diploma, Skilled Trades Apprenticeship, or other post high school training (two years duration) with minimum of 4 years’ experience. The preferred candidate will have an A.S. in a technical field.
