Job Summary:
Hot Section Module Center (HSMC) is a fast-paced, high-volume organization that delivers a complex and technically superior product. As the Center of Excellence for military and commercial turbine airfoils, we are focused on implementing cutting edge manufacturing technology to produce the latest in turbine airfoil designs for military and commercial applications, Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) and Next Generation Part Family (NGPF) respectively, while continuing to retain our competitive advantage. The organization strives to ensure material is delivered on time, with flawless quality and at cost as demand increases to unprecedented amounts.
HSMC South is currently looking for a high energy, self-starter to assume the role as an Advanced Coatings quality engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to the inspection and manufacturing communities. Evaluate manufacturing processes and hardware to determine compliance to applicable requirements.
- Provide daily quality engineering support such as review and approval of work instructions, first article inspections (FAI), interpretation etc.
- Improve manufacturing, assembly, inspection, and test processes to reduce and prevent defects and prevent quality escapes to our customers.
- Support shop non-compliance investigations to determine root cause, identifying robust corrective actions and tracking effectiveness.
- Support preparation efforts for external quality audits such as the AS9100 certification.
- Support product escapes investigations and population bounding efforts. Construct and perform quality presentations to a technical community.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years' experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with inspection tooling and techniques.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a group setting and interface directly with shop floor operators and inspection personnel.
- Knowledge and experience with quality systems and standards such as AS9100.
- Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools (i.e. root cause analysis and principles of lean manufacturing).
- ASQ - CQE a plus.
